Teaching ESL in the USABefore we get started let me say that I am a TEFL English tutor in USA and I would love to share what I know about the country. Everyone knows that the USA is the most desirable country for international education, and even though that does not necessarily mean they need language tutors it is a part of their decision when choosing the country. With so many international students there are many great jobs that need to be filled and getting a good job in the field is essential.International schools have opened in all foreign countries and provide schooling to students from a variety of nationalities. The jobs are not as plentiful as in the USA but they do exist. In this article I will discuss some jobs that can be found as a teacher of ESL, in the USA.Private Schools: There are several private schools that send students from various countries to their institution. The parents pay for their children to attend and are responsible for their homework, extracurricular activities, athletics, and class schedules. These schools have lots of responsibilities, but they also provide a lot of flexibility for students and parents. They do not have a strict schedule like the public schools do and can have a huge effect on the culture of the students as well as the country.Work-Study Programs: There are several scholarships and work-study programs that are available for students in many countries. One of the most prominent ones is that offered by the US Department of State. This program gives students a lot of freedom and the students can select where they want to go.Universities: There are hundreds of private and government run universities in the United States. Most of them have English as a major requirement. Some of the most renowned universities in the United States include Harvard, Princeton, University of Chicago, and Brown. All of these universities have very competitive tuition and offer extensive study abroad programs that can help students lear n more about the country.Private Study Abroad Programs: There are several private study abroad and study while working programs that are available in the United States. The program is designed to help students take a college class or academic subject abroad and then use that knowledge to further their studies in the United States. It's something that you might consider taking advantage of if you are really looking to immerse yourself in another culture. One popular program is the Johns Hopkins University.Teaching in the USA: English teachers in the USA can find some great opportunities with various private and government institutions. Since so many people want to teach English as a second language in the United States there are many private schools, community colleges, and universities that hire qualified teachers. You should be sure to check out the requirements for employment before you accept.Teaching in Europe: Many people are finding a great deal of interest in learning English as a second language in Europe. One of the first stops for many people is a school in Spain. If you are one of these people and wish to work in the continent, teaching English can be a fantastic way to do so.
